Our Response to COVID-19

To our much loved Arise Church Family,

Preventative measures against the spread of COVID-19 are changing by the day, if not by the hour. In support of the Government and medical professionals increased advice to self-distance AND in care of the safety and well-being of our Arise Church Family (plus those who you come into contact with) we have reviewed our Wednesday decision and we will be cancelling our 9am Senior Italian Ministry and 10am Sunday Gathering from this Sunday the 22nd of March onwards – this will include our Friday night Arise Youth Gatherings.

So, what’s the plan then?

Arise Online

Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.

ACTS 5:42

Well, we are returning to the days of the Acts church and we will be gathering together in our homes. This Sunday will see us begin a new season of what we are calling Arise Online. While we won’t be gathering all together on Sunday in Keilor Park, we will still be gathering together ONLINE at 10AM across the suburbs in our homes. You can ONLINE gather using our website ( We are trying to have our website and app updated with direct links for this Sunday; if not, definitely for Sunday 29th March.

Over the coming weeks we will shape and refine what this looks like. Essentially it will be much like a Sunday gathering. Church will start in homes at 10am with worship with songs provided. We will be praying together and we will gather around His word to have our faith expanded via an online message. Families, we will also have a resource available for Arise Kids. We expect for the first few weeks things might be a little bumpy as we iron out any kinks and as we also adapt to any new government regulations that may arise, so we ask for your patience.

Shepherd Groups

So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on!

As you know, every family in Arise Church has a dedicated member of our Ministry Team who will be praying for them, encouraging them and seeing if there is any practical support needed. You may have already had a phone call from them, if not, they will be in contact over the coming days. For some of us, going online is easy, we do it every day, for others, it will be a challenge. Our Ministry Team will be working on ensuring every person can be a part of gathering together for Arise Online.

We also just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge those within our family who are going to deeply feel the absence of a Sunday gathering. While some of you might be relishing the idea of smaller gatherings and even being isolated, there will be those who will struggle with this new dynamic. Please let us remind you, you are not alone. If you are really struggling with feelings of isolation and fear then please do not hesitate to give us call (our numbers are on previous emails). Arise Church Family please be mindful of those you know who might be isolated and would appreciate someone reaching out to them.

Finally Arise Church, be encouraged. Remember the church gathering may be cancelled for a season, but the church is still gathering to celebrate Jesus our Lord and Saviour. We are convinced that God is doing something remarkable through this time – what was intended for evil, God will use for good, for the saving of many lives (Gen 50:20). Through this trial there is an amazing opportunity for God to refine and
build His church!

Much love
Duane & Cathie
